Late August / Mr Clit and the Pink Cigarettes - Split 7 inch

ere, the seemingly always on-point Late August follow up their 2011 Not for Human Consumption full-length with a supercharged double-shot of like-minded, Napalm Death-meets-Eyehategod sludge/grind lunacy. The one-two punch of “Wake Up/Humanity’s Miserable End” should most definitely inspire foil hats everywhere to jump into the fucking shelter. D’s raw throated screams once again devastate the calm, accompanied by Scott’s slow doom-inspired riff, alternating with break-neck grind passages. The end just made me wish this side was at least twice as long!! Don’t bother putting on your helmet for this, because it’ll be over before you’re strapped in…so just enjoy the beating and savor it until these guys pay us all another skull-pummeling visit!

Meanwhile, the mischievously quirky trio known as Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes serve up two squirmy helpings of their trademark noise-punk frenzy. More akin to the worlds of earlier “alternative” and punk bands of the 80’s and 90’s, the band are unashamed and relentless in the injection of their own screaming, rabid brand of what the norm calls “crazy” into those influences. The double decker rampage of “Cum Friends/Hyena Song” possesses a noticeably “old school” feel, with DIY punk tentacles wrapped tight. Comprised of a guy (Mr. Clit) and two girls (yep, you guessed it…the Pink Cigarettes), the band is three more people in the world that clearly left their elders scratching their heads in mass confusion. While likely not for everyone in more extreme music circles, this three piece will surely turn heads, one way or another!" - Forbidden Magazine
